Back to School DIYs Day 3: Frilly Socks!

Today's post is a super easy way to add some pizazz to your socks, and consequently your entire outfit!

I always find random pairs of socks in my drawer that I've never worn, and I'm not completely sure why I have them. So I decided to spruce them up to make them into some really fun fall accessories.

Materials
You will need a pair of socks, various trims, matching thread, scissors, and a sewing machine.

This is a really simple process. First. cut two foot-long pieces of your chosen trim. I went with this white lace:
Next, stretch a sock over the foot of your sewing machine, like so:
Now just sew the trim on to the sock with a zigzag stitch, making sure to keep the sock evenly stretched as you go.

To finish, sew the two ends of the trim together (with right sides together). I would recommend staying on a zigzag stitch and going over it a few times.

And you are done!

Here's another idea:
I found this super cute daisy trim at the craft store. To put trim like this on, sew it around the top of the socks with a wide zigzag stitch, but DON'T stretch it as you go. To give it some stretch so you can get them on your feet, cut the daisies apart at the points where they are connected with scissors or a seam ripper:
Now they can stretch!
I had some extra daisy trim, so I glued it onto a headband with hot glue!

Here are a few styling ideas for your new socks!

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial, and as always, let me know if you try it out!
